By default, Lead Forensics identifies user journeys by capturing the pages which load as the user navigates the site. This information is then shown in your visitor list and reports.
However, in today’s web environment, visitors interact with websites in more ways than just loading a page. Many sites utilise buttons, pop-up forms, video interactions, and even external link clicks to engage users. This is where Custom Event Tracking comes in. Custom Event Tracking enables visibility of your website visitors’ on-site interactions, in turn enabling you to prioritise high-intent prospects, and providing deeper website engagement insights to optimise your marketing and conversion strategies.
You can access your custom event tracking script by going to Setup > Tracking Code. To enable Custom event tracking, the first step is to add an additional piece of script to your tracked website. Follow the brief guide and please consult your website developer to implement the steps. They will need to add a call to this track_load function to your site wherever you want to track an event.
Your Custom Event Code is unique to each portal, so please ensure you're using the correct code for your tracked site.
See our video tutorial here for more on custom event tracking.
With custom event tracking, you can turn on-site interactions into actionable data. This tool enhances your understanding of user behaviour and helps your sales team target the best leads. You may implement custom event tracking scripts on elements such as pop-up forms, video play buttons, or add to basket buttons to gain detailed insights into your website actions.
